Top Figures God Used in the Bible: From Moses to Peter

Well now, if we talk about the people God used in the Bible, I reckon we gotta start with ol’ Abraham. He ain’t no fancy man, just a regular feller who wandered about. But, wouldn’t you know it, God picked him to be the father of a whole nation, the Israelites. Yep, you heard that right, a man who was just mindin’ his own business, and God used him to do big things! And that’s somethin’ for us to remember – God don’t care where you come from or what you’ve done, He’s got a plan for you too.

Now, don’t go thinkin’ you have to be some sort of perfect person for God to use ya. A lot of folks in the Bible were just regular folks, just like you and me. Take Moses, for example. He was a shepherd, and not just any shepherd, but one who had done a mighty bad thing. He killed a man and ran away to hide. But God didn’t care about his past. God gave him the big job of leadin’ the Israelites outta Egypt. Can you believe that? A murderer turned into one of God’s biggest helpers!

And let’s not forget about Jacob. Now Jacob, he wasn’t exactly what you’d call a saint. He was a tricky sort, a man who cheated his own brother outta his birthright. But guess what? God chose him too. He turned Jacob into the father of twelve tribes, folks who would be the leaders of Israel. If God can use a man like Jacob, who’s to say He won’t use you?

Ehud now, he’s another one. A bit of an odd one. He was a left-handed feller, and back in the day, that wasn’t exactly the best thing to be. But God used him too! He went up against the king of Moab and delivered Israel from his grip. And who woulda thought, huh? A man who wasn’t even considered strong or brave by the standards of his time, but God used him in a mighty way.

And, don’t forget about Yael. She wasn’t even one of the Israelites, but God still used her. She was a woman, and in those days, women didn’t get much credit. But she was brave and did what needed to be done. She saved her people by takin’ down a mighty enemy general. See, God don’t care what you are, He just cares what you’ll do for Him when the time comes.

Then we got Joshua. Now, Joshua, he was Moses’ assistant, and when Moses passed away, Joshua took over the job of leadin’ the Israelites into the Promised Land. He wasn’t no general at first, but God trained him up, and soon enough, he was takin’ down cities and enemies. Joshua wasn’t born a warrior, but God made him one. You see, God can turn anyone into somethin’ special if they trust Him.

And I reckon we shouldn’t forget about David. David was just a young shepherd boy when God chose him to be king. He wasn’t even big enough to wear the armor, but God didn’t mind. He knew what David had in his heart. David trusted God, and that’s what made him a great leader. You see, God don’t look at the outside, He looks at the heart.

And we got Peter and John, two fishermen. Now, they weren’t no scholars or big-shot leaders, just regular ol’ fishermen. But God called ‘em to be disciples of Jesus. They weren’t perfect, not by a long shot. Peter even denied Jesus three times! But God still used him to build His church. So, if you ever feel like you ain’t enough, like you don’t have what it takes to do somethin’ for God, just remember these folks. They were regular folks, and God used ‘em to do extraordinary things.

When you look at the Bible, you see that God used all sorts of people. Some were big, some were small. Some were rich, some were poor. But they all had one thing in common – they trusted God. And that’s the key, ain’t it? It ain’t about how good you are or how strong you are, it’s about whether you’ll trust God and let Him use you for His purpose.

So don’t be shy or afraid to step up when God calls on you. He’s been usin’ regular folks like you and me for centuries, and He’s still doin’ it today. If He can use a shepherd like Moses or a fisherman like Peter, He sure can use you too. Just remember to keep your faith, keep your heart open, and say “yes” when He calls.
