So, you’re talkin’ ’bout that welded chainmail, huh? Well, let me tell ya, it’s a thing, alright. Seen folks wear it at them fairs and such. Shiny stuff, all them little rings hooked together.
- Now, I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I reckon it’s supposed to keep ya from gettin’ poked or cut.
- Like, if someone comes at ya with a knife or somethin’, the chainmail’s gonna stop it. Least, that’s the idea.
Some of it’s welded, they say. Means them rings are stuck together real good. Makes it stronger, I guess. But then there’s this other kind, riveted, they call it. Don’t know much about that, but seems like folks who fight in them play-pretend battles like it better. Says it’s tougher.
Course, all that metal’s gotta be heavy, right? Imagine luggin’ that around all day. Must get awful hot in there too. Bet you sweat buckets wearin’ one of them chainmail shirts.
I seen pictures of knights and such wearin’ it back in the old days. Must’ve been real brave, them fellas. Fightin’ with swords and axes, wearin’ all that heavy armor. Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ you’re gonna be fightin’ any battles, but I guess if you want some protection, chainmail’s one way to go. Just remember, it ain’t magic. It’ll stop a poke or a slice, maybe, but it ain’t gonna make ya invincible.
And don’t go thinkin’ you can just buy any old chainmail and be safe. Gotta get the good stuff, they say. Welded or riveted, whatever that means. And make sure it fits right, too. Don’t want it hangin’ loose or it won’t do ya no good.
I reckon it’s like anything else, ya get what ya pay for. Cheap chainmail’s probably gonna fall apart on ya. So if you’re serious about stayin’ safe, spend a little extra and get somethin’ decent.
And remember, chainmail ain’t just for shirts. They make all kinds of stuff outta it. Hoods, gloves, even pants, if you can believe it. Guess you can cover yourself from head to toe if you really want to.
But like I said, I ain’t no expert. Just tellin’ ya what I’ve seen and heard. If you’re really interested in this welded chainmail business, best do your own research. Talk to folks who know what they’re talkin’ about. Don’t just take my word for it.
