Well, I’ll tell ya, this “fantasy sexual art,” as they call it, it’s somethin’ else. I ain’t no expert, mind you, just an old woman with eyes. But I’ve seen things, ya know? Pictures and such, they make you think.
First off, what even is it? Seems like it’s all about makin’ up stuff, dreamin’ things that ain’t real, but with, well, you know… that stuff involved. Like them fancy pictures they sell at them big auctions, like that one they had in, uh, Sotheby’s, yeah, back in 2020. Heard tell it was all “erotic” this and “erotic” that. Don’t ask me what that word means exactly, but it sure sounds fancy.
- Some of it’s pretty, I guess, all flowy lines and soft colors.
- Some of it’s downright scary, like them monsters and demons they draw. Gives me the shivers, it does.
- And then there’s the kind that’s just… weird. Folks with wings and tails doin’ things that, well, let’s just say they ain’t natural.
But I reckon it’s been around forever, this kinda thing. Even them old-timey artists, way back when, they was at it. That fella, what’s his name, Henry Fuseli, yeah, he painted some wild stuff back in the 1700s. “An Erotic Fantasy Date,” they called it. Sounds like a hoot, don’t it? Though I bet it weren’t nothin’ like the dates we used to have down at the creek. Ours was more about catchin’ frogs and sharin’ a soda pop.
Now, you might think this kinda art is hidden away, somethin’ you gotta go lookin’ for in dusty old books or somethin’. But no sirree! It’s everywhere these days. Even on that there “Insta-gram,” the young’uns are always yappin’ about. Heard tell they got rules about showin’ too much, but somehow these artists, they find a way. Sneaky devils, they are.
And there’s this place, a whole museum of it, in New York City, I think. A “Museum of Sex,” they call it. Can you believe it? A whole buildin’ full of this stuff. Makes you wonder what they got in there. I bet it ain’t just pictures of flowers and sunsets, that’s for sure.
But why? That’s what I keep askin’ myself. Why do folks make this stuff? Why do they wanna look at it? I guess it’s like any other kind of art, it’s about tellin’ a story, stirrin’ up feelin’s. Maybe it’s about escapin’ from the everyday, dreamin’ of somethin’ more excitin’, somethin’ different. Or maybe it’s just about, well, you know… the birds and the bees, as they say.
And it ain’t just about lookin’ either. There’s folks makin’ their own, all kinds of artists, drawin’ and paintin’ and sculptin’ and whatnot. Heard there’s this website, “DeviantArt,” where they all hang out, sharin’ their work and gettin’ ideas from each other. Sounds like a lively bunch.
I tell ya, it’s a whole different world, this fantasy sexual art. A world of imagination and desire, of beauty and darkness, of things that make you blush and things that make you think. And whether you like it or not, it’s a part of who we are, this human need to create and to explore, even the parts that some folks might say are best left hidden. But me? I say, let ’em create. Let ’em dream. Let ’em express themselves, however they see fit. After all, it’s their story to tell, ain’t it?
So, next time you see one of them pictures, don’t just turn away. Take a look. Think about it. Maybe you’ll see somethin’ beautiful, maybe you’ll see somethin’ strange, maybe you’ll just see somethin’ silly. But whatever you see, remember, it’s all just part of the human experience, this crazy, wonderful, messy thing we call life.
And if it gets a little too hot to handle, well, just fan yourself with your apron and move on. There’s plenty more to see in this world, that’s for sure.
