Now, I ain’t no scholar, but I heard tell that the word “tapestry” comes from some old French word, somethin’ about coverin’ things up with heavy cloth. Makes sense, I guess. They used to make ’em by stretchin’ threads real tight on a big frame, like a loom, and then weavin’ other colored threads in and out to make the picture. It ain’t easy work, let me tell ya. Takes a lot of time and patience.
- Them old-timey tapestries, they were somethin’ special. Folks would spend months, maybe even years, makin’ just one. And they weren’t cheap, neither. Only the rich folks could afford ’em, kings and queens and such.

My grandson, he’s got one in his room, with a big ol’ deer on it. He loves it, says it makes him feel like he’s out huntin’ in the woods, even when he’s stuck inside doin’ his homework.
You can find these tapestries all over the place now. They got ’em online, in stores, everywhere you look. And they ain’t just for keepin’ warm no more. People hang ’em on the walls just to make the place look pretty. They add a bit of somethin’, ya know? Makes a room feel cozier, more like home.
Some folks, they even get tapestries made special, with their own designs. Maybe a picture of their favorite huntin’ dog, or a special place they like to go. That’s pretty neat, I think. Makes it personal, ya know? Like it’s tellin’ a story, just for you.
And I tell ya, these tapestries, they ain’t just for men, neither. Women like ’em too. My daughter, she’s got one with flowers and birds, real pretty. Says it brightens up her livin’ room.
