Enter if You Dare: The Story of Theres Some Horrors in This House Painting
Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this “there’s some horrors in this house painting” thing. I ain’t no fancy art critic or nothin’, but I know what I like and what gives me the creeps. And let me tell ya, some of them house paintings, they just ain’t right.
What in tarnation is goin’ on in them pictures?
I seen some of these paintings online, them “Horrors In This House” ones. Folks are sellin’ ‘em, sayin’ they’re “unique” and “custom”. Unique my foot! They got things in ‘em that’d make your hair stand on end. Like, one picture, it had this shadow in the corner, long and skinny, looked like somethin’ waitin’ to snatch ya. And the eyes, oh lord, the eyes! They follow ya, no matter where ya stand. Gives me the shivers just thinkin’ about it.
Then there’s them pictures with the messed-up furniture. Chairs tilted all weird, tables lookin’ like they gonna collapse any minute. And the colors, all dark and gloomy, like a storm’s brewin’ inside the house. It ain’t natural, I tell ya. Makes ya wonder what kind of folks lived in houses like that.
It ain’t just the pictures, it’s the feelin’ they give ya.
I remember when I was a young’un, we had this old house down the road. Folks said it was haunted. Never went near it myself, but the stories… they’d curl your toes. These paintings, they bring back them old stories. They make ya think about things lurkin’ in the dark, things that go bump in the night.
- One time, my grandma told me…
- She said she saw a light in that house…
- And a figure movin’ in the window…
- But nobody lived there, see?
And that’s what these paintings do. They take that feelin’ of somethin’ bein’ wrong, somethin’ not quite right, and they put it right there on canvas. Or paper, or whatever they use these days. It’s like they’re tryin’ to tell ya a story, but it’s a story you don’t wanna hear.
Folks are buyin’ this stuff, can ya believe it?
Now, I ain’t one to judge, but I don’t understand why folks wanna hang these creepy things on their walls. They call it “wall art,” they say it’s “high quality,” they even give them artists five stars and call them “Star Sellers”! But to me, it’s just askin’ for trouble. Like invitin’ them horrors right into your own home.
I seen some folks sayin’ these paintings are “inspired” by somethin’. Inspired by what, I ask ya? By nightmares? By things best left forgotten? I tell ya, some things are better left buried, not hung up for everyone to see.
Maybe I’m just an old woman, set in my ways.
But I don’t reckon I’ll ever understand this “Horrors In This House” business. Give me a nice picture of a field of flowers any day. Or a bowl of fruit. Somethin’ that makes ya feel good, not somethin’ that makes ya wanna sleep with the lights on. And the sellers? They probably makin’ a killing, sellin’ these scary things to city folks with more money than sense.
But hey, that’s just me. Maybe you young folks like bein’ scared. Maybe you like thinkin’ about ghosts and goblins and things that go bump in the night. But me? I’d rather stick to my sunshine and my happy thoughts. Leave them horrors where they belong – in the dark, not on my walls.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ one of these “there’s some horrors in this house paintings”, you just remember what I said. They ain’t just pictures, they’re somethin’ more. They’re a reminder that there’s things in this world that we don’t understand, things that are better left alone. And maybe, just maybe, they’re a warnin’. A warnin’ to stay out of the dark, to keep the lights on, and to never, ever, open the door when you hear a knock in the middle of the night.
And if you do get one, don’t come cryin’ to me when things start gettin’ spooky. You been warned.
