Well, listen up, y’all. Let’s talk about somethin’ folks been gossiping about for ages – do angels, those winged fellas, ever get all mushy and fall head over heels for us humans? I tell ya, it’s a real head-scratcher.
Now, I ain’t no fancy scholar or nothin’, but from what I hear, the big church folks, they say angels ain’t like us. They don’t get all twitterpated and lovey-dovey like we do. They’re all about spirit stuff, ya know, guidin’ and protectin’ us. No romancin’, they say. It’s just not in their job description, I reckon.
The Bible, it calls ’em “he,” but they ain’t men nor women. Just pure spirits, they say. No feelings like we got, no lovin’ and no babies. So how can they even understand that whole love thing? It’s like tryin’ to explain the color blue to a blind dog, ain’t it?
- No human feelings.
- No making babies, so no lovey-dovey stuff.
- Just spirits, pure and simple.
But then you hear these stories, whispers and such. Like this fella Enoch, who apparently went up to heaven and got all lovey with somebody. Caused a big ruckus, they say. Had to choose between bein’ an angel and stayin’ with his love. He picked love, the fool! Or maybe he wasn’t a fool, who knows? Love makes folks do crazy things, angel or not.
Some folks say when angels are around, you feel things. A cool breeze, a shiver, or maybe a warm fuzzy feeling, like someone’s huggin’ your soul. Some even hear ringin’ in their ears or get tingles on their head. Makes ya wonder, don’t it? Maybe they ain’t so different after all.
And then there’s the talk about fallen angels. The ones who messed up real bad, they say, by gettin’ all cozy with human women. Now, I ain’t judgin’, but that sounds like a bit more than just friendly guidance to me. It’s all a mystery, wrapped in a riddle, inside an enigma, like my grandma used to say about her meatloaf recipe.
Some writers, they like to imagine angels gettin’ all dolled up, which is funny if you think about it. They ain’t got bodies like us, so what do they got to dress up? Maybe they just fluff their wings or somethin’. And some folks wonder if an angel and a human could ever make it work. It’s like tryin’ to mix oil and water, I say. But then again, I’ve seen stranger things happen down at the county fair.
Some big brained scholars, they argue about who made what, but most agree God’s the boss man, the creator. So, if angels are made by God, and God loves us, then why can’t an angel love us? I ain’t saying they do the lovey dovey dance we humans do, but maybe they have some other way of showin’ affection.
A different kind of love maybe. Not the touchy feely kind, maybe just care a whole lot.
Anyways, the whole thing’s a big question mark. Do they fall in love? Maybe. Maybe not. The Bible gives us some clues, but it don’t spell everything out. And that’s probably how it should be. Some things are just meant to be wondered about. Keeps life interesting, I guess.
So, next time you feel that shiver or hear that ringin’, you might just think about angels. And whether they’re fallin’ in love or just passin’ by, it’s somethin’ to ponder, ain’t it? Just don’t go lookin’ for them to settle down and start a family. They got bigger fish to fry, I reckon.
In the end, it’s all about faith. You either believe in angels and what the good book says or you don’t. And if you do, well, then maybe you also believe that they can love in their own way, a way that we might not even understand. And that’s alright by me.
