Awful Bible Verses: Shocking Passages You Wont Believe

Alright, let’s talk about this Bible, you know? Some folks say it’s all good and holy, but I gotta tell ya, there’s some stuff in there that just makes you scratch your head and say, “What in the tarnation?” Makes a body wonder, it does. So, let’s get into some of these awful bible verses, the ones that make you go “hmm.”

First off, there’s this thing in 2 Samuel, somethin’ about a fella named Amnon and his half-sister Tamar. Real nasty business, it is. He goes and…well, he ain’t right with her, let’s just say that. And the way it’s written, it’s just plain uncomfortable. Don’t sit right with me, no sir. It’s in 2 Samuel 13:11-14 if you wanna look it up, but I ain’t recommendin’ it. Makes you wonder what kinda folks they were back then.

  • Makes ya think, don’t it?
  • And the Bible’s full of stuff like that.
  • Not just this one story, mind you.

Then there’s Deuteronomy, a whole book of rules and laws, some of ‘em just plain weird. Like this one part, Deuteronomy 23:1, says somethin’ about a man whose… well, let’s just say his “privates” ain’t whole can’t go to church. Can you believe that? Like God cares about that sort of thing! I mean, it’s just plain strange. Who comes up with this stuff? Makes ya wonder if they was thinkin’ straight when they wrote it. Seems awful picky to me.

And don’t even get me started on the fightin’ rules in Deuteronomy 25:11-12. If two fellas are fightin’ and one fella’s wife grabs the other fella…down there… to save her husband, well, the Bible says you gotta chop off her hand. Chop off her hand! For tryin’ to save her husband! That just ain’t right. A woman tryin’ to protect her family shouldn’t be punished like that. It’s plumb crazy if you ask me.

Now, I ain’t sayin’ the whole Bible’s bad. There’s good stuff in there too, talk about lovin’ your neighbor and bein’ kind. But these verses, these awful verses, they stick out like a sore thumb. They make you question things, you know? Like, what kind of God would order such things? Or is it just men makin’ up rules and sayin’ it’s from God? I dunno, it’s somethin’ to think about.

And there are those verses that folks just twist all around to mean whatever they want. Like that one about judgin’ folks, Matthew 7:1, “Judge not, that ye be not judged.” But then you see those same folks judgin’ everyone left and right. It’s hypocritical, that’s what it is. They pick and choose what they wanna follow and ignore the rest. And then there are verses like Jeremiah 29:11, folks say it means God’s gonna make everyone rich and happy, but that ain’t always how life works, is it? It’s just a feel-good verse folks use when things ain’t going their way.

Then there’s the stuff in 1 Timothy 2:9-15. Confusin’ as all get out. Talkin’ about women bein’ quiet and not teachin’ men. Well, I’ve known some women smarter than any man I ever met. Seems like another one of those man-made rules, tryin’ to keep women down. It’s enough to make your head spin! And people fight and argue over this stuff, day in and day out.

Some folks even say that there are funny things in the bible. Not like laugh-out-loud funny, but funny strange. Like when they were listing all these rules and out of nowhere they say “unicorns are not mentioned”, like who thought to add that in? It’s weird, that’s what it is. Makes you think they had some odd ideas back then.

Anyways, the point is, this Bible, it ain’t all sunshine and roses. There’s darkness in there too, some real awful stuff. And it’s important to read it with open eyes and a thinkin’ mind. Don’t just swallow it whole. Question it. Wrestle with it. Figure out what you believe for yourself. ‘Cause blindly followin’ somethin’ just because it’s in a book, well, that ain’t right. You gotta use your own God-given brain.

So there you have it, just a few thoughts on some of them awful bible verses. There’s plenty more where that came from, believe you me. But that’s enough for one day. Go on now, and do your own thinkin’.
