Elephant with x eyes: What does it mean and where to see it?

Well, look here, let’s talk about this elephant with X eyes thing. I saw some pictures online, you know, on that phone thing my grandson showed me. The pictures were kinda weird, but interesting all the same.

This fella, KAWS, he’s the one who draws these elephants with X’s for eyes. Now, I ain’t no artist, but it looks like them X’s mean the elephant’s… well, gone. Like in them cartoons when someone gets knocked out, they get X’s for eyes, right? It’s like this KAWS fella is saying the elephant ain’t there no more. Maybe it’s about how we’re losing elephants, you know, with all that poachin’ and whatnot. Makes you think, it does.

Elephant with x eyes: What does it mean and where to see it?
  • X’s for eyes, means dead or somethin’
  • This KAWS guy, he draws ’em
  • Makes ya think ’bout elephants disappearin’

Them X’s, they’re this KAWS fella’s thing, ya see? He puts ’em on all sorts of critters, not just elephants. My grandson says it’s like hidin’ their faces, makin’ ‘em anonymous. Sounds fancy, but to me, it just looks like they’re gone. Like ghosts or somethin’. It’s kinda spooky, but it gets your attention, that’s for sure.

And speaking of eyes, real elephants, they got pretty eyes, ya know? Not X’s, mind you. Brown ones, mostly, or kinda yellowish. They say elephants see real good at night too. Must be helpful when you’re as big as a house and gotta find your way around in the dark. Can’t be bumpin’ into trees all night, can ya?

I heard tell elephants see colors too, but I don’t know what colors. Probably not like us, seein’ all the fancy shades. But they see enough to know what’s what, I reckon. And when you look at an elephant, really look at it, you kinda feel somethin’, ya know? Like they understand you, even if they can’t talk like we do. It’s in their eyes, I guess. That gentleness, that wisdom. It’s a shame some folks can’t see that and just want to hurt ’em.

So, this KAWS guy, he’s takin’ somethin’ that’s supposed to be full of life and makin’ it look… gone. Maybe he’s tryin’ to wake us up, make us see what we’re doin’ to these animals. Maybe he’s sayin’ we’re blindin’ ourselves with them X’s, not seein’ the real elephants no more. I don’t rightly know, but it makes me think. And that ain’t a bad thing, now is it?

This whole thing with the elephant and the X eyes, it’s kinda like them city folks and their art, always tryna make you think. And maybe that’s the point, ya know? To get folks talkin’ and thinkin’ about stuff that matters, like them elephants and how we’re treatin’ ‘em. It’s a funny ol’ world, ain’t it? Someone draws X’s on an elephant’s eyes, and it makes an old woman like me ponder the whole darn thing. Well, gotta go now, got chores to do. But those X eyes on that elephant, they’ll stick with me for a while, I reckon.
