Alright, listen up, y’all. Gonna tell ya a bit ’bout this Pope, this… Pope the Great, they call him. Lived a long, long time ago, back in the 5th century, I reckon. Way before my time, that’s for sure. They say he was somethin’ special, this Pope.
Who was this Pope, anyway?
Well, from what I gather, this Pope fella, his name was Leo. Pope Leo the Great, they call him. Sounds fancy, huh? He was the Bishop of Rome, kinda like the big boss of the church back then. Started his job in 440 and kept at it till he died in 461. That’s a long time to be bossin’ folks around, even for a Pope.
Now, back in them days, things were different. Folks didn’t have no fancy cars or TVs. They had churches and, well, more churches. And this Pope Leo, he was all about keepin’ the church strong. He wanted folks to stick to what them old apostles taught, no funny business. He was real serious about that, like a mama bear protectin’ her cubs.

And they had other Popes too, ya know. Like this Gregory fella, they called him Gregory the Great too. Lived a bit later, I think. And there were Popes travelin’ all over the place, doin’ the Lord’s work. But this Leo, he was one of the first, and one of the best. That’s what they say, anyway.
