Hercules or Jesus: Who Is the True Son of God?
Alright, let’s talk about this Hercules Jesus fella, or whatever they call him. I ain’t no scholar, mind you, just a plain ol’ woman speakin’ my mind. Heard folks talkin’ ’bout him, sayin’ he’s some big deal.
Now, they say Jesus was a teacher, a healer, all that good stuff. But some say he’s more than that. They say he’s the Son of God, the King of the Jews. Sounds mighty important, don’t it? Like a king, you know, sittin’ on a throne, tellin’ folks what to do.
But this Hercules fella, he’s from way back when, before Jesus even showed up. They say he’s in them Greek stories, some kinda strongman, doin’ all sorts of crazy things. Sounds like a tough fella, that Hercules. Always fightin’ and whatnot. Kinda like them fellas you see on TV, always punchin’ and kickin’.
- They say Hercules was the son of some god, Zeus, I think they called him.
- And Jesus, they say he’s the Son of God too. Makes ya wonder, don’t it?
- All these sons of gods runnin’ around.
Now, this Jesus fella, they say he died for our sins. That’s what the preacher says anyway. Said he was nailed to a cross, suffered somethin’ awful. Said it was to save us all from goin’ to a bad place when we die. Sounds like a rough deal, if you ask me. Nobody wants to get nailed to a cross, that’s for sure. It ain’t natural.
And Hercules, well, he did a lotta fightin’, like I said. Battled monsters and such. Maybe he was savin’ people too, in his own way. Maybe he was like a superhero back in them days. You know, like them fellas in tights you see on the movies. Always savin’ the day, makin’ sure the bad guys don’t win.
So, you got Jesus, the Son of God, dyin’ for our sins, and you got Hercules, another son of a god, fightin’ monsters. Seems like they both were tryin’ to do somethin’ good, in their own way. But they sure went about it different, didn’t they?
Now, I ain’t gonna tell ya who’s better or who’s more important. That ain’t for me to say. I’m just tellin’ ya what I heard, what folks are talkin’ about. You know, like when you go to the store and hear people gossiping, that’s what I’m doing, just passing along what I heard. It’s up to you to decide what you believe. But it makes ya think, don’t it? About good and evil, about savin’ folks, about what it means to be a son of a god.
And this talk about Jesus bein’ the Messiah, the King chosen by God… well, that’s somethin’ else altogether. Sounds like he was meant to be somethin’ special, somethin’ important. Like he had a job to do, a purpose. And the Gentiles, them folks who weren’t Jews, they even knew it, kinda sorta. They knew he was special, even if they didn’t quite understand why. It’s like seein’ a fancy car, you know it’s expensive even if you don’t know why.
Them stories say Jesus felt abandoned by God when he was dyin’, felt all alone. That’s a scary thought, ain’t it? Even the Son of God feelin’ lost and alone. Makes ya wonder what it was all like back then, what it felt like to be him. Makes you think about them times when you felt all alone and scared.
So, there you have it. My two cents on this Hercules Jesus business. Like I said, I ain’t no expert, just a regular person tryin’ to make sense of it all. But it’s somethin’ to think about, ain’t it? Somethin’ to talk about with your neighbors, your friends, your family. Maybe over a cup of coffee and some pie. That’s what I like to do anyway, sit and chat with folks and eat something sweet. It makes the talkin’ easier, you know?
And remember, whether it’s Hercules or Jesus, or whoever, it’s all about doin’ good, about tryin’ to make the world a better place. That’s what I believe anyway. Just try to be a good person, that’s all that matters in the end.
