Cleansing, Treating, Moisturizing, that’s it!

Ancient Egyptian Skin Care: Easy Tips and Tricks to Know

Them Egyptians, they kept it simple. Wash, treat, and then, put on some grease! That’s what I always do. Wash my face with water, get all the dirt off. Sometimes, if I’m feelin’ fancy, I use a bit of milk and honey. Makes the skin soft like a baby’s bottom, it does. They used dead sea salts too, them Egyptians. Salty stuff, cleans real good, they say. I just use whatever soap is on sale, though.

Now, for treatin’ the skin, they had all sorts of things. Aloe, myrrh, frankincense… sounds like somethin’ outta the Bible, doesn’t it? They mixed it up and put it on their face. Said it kept the wrinkles away. I ain’t got no fancy myrrh or frankincense, but I do use a bit of castor oil sometimes. Keeps the hair shiny, too. And skin smooth like glass, smooth like the river rocks. And good for them aches and pains in the joints, yeah it is.

And then, the moisturizin’. That’s important, ya know? Dry skin is like a cracked riverbed, no good for nothin’. The Egyptians, they used olive oil, sesame oil, all sorts of oils. I just use whatever I got on hand, sometimes lard, sometimes a bit of butter. Works just fine.

Make-up and Such

Them Egyptians, they loved their makeup. Eyeliner, they called it. Made it outta somethin’ black, made their eyes look big and pretty. I don’t use none of that stuff myself. Waste of time, if you ask me. But they did use it, and they used it a lot, even the men, all the men use it too. Can you believe that?

And don’t forget a smile. A good smile makes everybody beautiful.

A little bit of this, a little bit of that

They say Egyptians also used eggs white and oatmeal for skin. Never tried it myself, sounds messy. But who am I to judge? If it worked for them, maybe it’ll work for you. They used mint leaves and lavender flowers, too. Smells nice, I bet. I just grow some basil in my yard. Good for cooking and good for keeping the flies away.

Back in them Egyptian days, men cared about their skin, too. Used the same stuff as the women, they did.
