Well, let me tell ya ’bout this St. Joan of Arc Fair, you know, the one they have every year. It’s a real big to-do, lots of folks comin’ and goin’.
First off, they got this French Market thing. Sounds fancy, huh? But it ain’t so bad. They got all sorts of food, like them… whatchamacallits… crepes? Yeah, them thin pancake things. And wine too, if you’re into that kinda stuff. I ain’t much of a drinker myself, but my old man, he used to like a glass or two. They cook it all right there, so it’s fresh, I guess. You gotta buy tickets for the food, though. Little paper tickets, like the kind you used to get at the carnivals. Everything costs a few tickets, some more than others.
They also got music, all day long. Bands playin’ and singin’. Some of it’s alright, some of it’s just noise, if you ask me. But the young folks, they seem to like it. They dance around and have a good time. It’s nice to see ’em happy, I reckon. There’s also this craft fair thing, where people sell all sorts of handmade stuff. Jewelry, clothes, pictures… you name it. Some of it’s pretty, some of it’s just junk, if you know what I mean. But people seem to buy it, so I guess somebody likes it.
- Food: French stuff, pancakes, wine. Gotta buy tickets.
- Music: Bands playin’ all day. Some good, some not so good.
- Crafts: Handmade stuff. Some pretty, some junk.
Now, this ain’t just some little get-together. It’s a big deal. People come from all over. They say it’s been goin’ on for years, this fair. Thirty-somethin’ years, I heard. That’s a long time, ain’t it? They do it to celebrate this St. Joan of Arc lady. I ain’t sure who she was, some kinda saint, I think. They say she was brave, fought in some war or somethin’. Good for her, I guess. But mostly, folks just come for the food and the music and the fun.
And it ain’t just a one-day thing, neither. Sometimes it’s just one day for the French market, but the whole fair thing can go on for a few days, maybe even a whole week! They have it at night too, with lights and all. It’s real pretty, I gotta say. And they got rides for the kids, little Ferris wheels and such. My grandkids, they love that stuff. They go round and round till they’re dizzy. And they eat so much cotton candy, I swear they’ll turn pink.
They also have this auction thing, a silent auction they call it. People bid on stuff, like baskets full of goodies or gift certificates to restaurants. I never bid on nothin’ myself. Seems like a waste of money, if you ask me. But some folks get real into it, they keep biddin’ and biddin’ till they win. I guess it’s exciting for them. They also have dinners you can go to inside the church and they are home made! It’s good food I hear.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, you might wanna check out this St. Joan of Arc Fair. It’s a good time, especially if you like food and music and crowds. Just be prepared to spend a little money, ’cause nothin’s free these days. And wear comfortable shoes, ’cause you’ll be doin’ a lot of walkin’. But it’s worth it, I think. It’s a nice way to spend a day, or an evening, with your family and friends. It’s a good way to see the community come together. Everyone’s happy and talkin. Just good to get out of the house you know? See some people.
And that’s all I gotta say about that St. Joan of Arc Fair. It’s just a good old-fashioned fair, you know? Nothing fancy, but it’s fun. And that’s what matters, right?
