Unleash Your Inner Fear with This Horror Artwork

Well, let me tell ya, them horror artworks, they ain’t for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. I seen some things, let me tell ya, things that’d make your hair stand on end. Not that my hair stands on much these days, mind you, it’s all thin and wispy now.

But these pictures, these drawings, they got monsters and ghouls and all sorts of creepy crawlies. One time, I saw this picture, must have been in some magazine my grandkid left laying around. It had this…this thing in it. Big eyes, all black and shiny, and teeth, rows and rows of ’em, sharp as needles. Gave me the shivers, it did.

And the colors, Lord have mercy, the colors! Not your pretty pinks and blues, no sir. Lots of reds, dark reds, like dried blood, and blacks, blacks as midnight, and greens, sickly greens like somethin’ died and rotted. Makes your stomach churn, it does.

  • Some folks, they like that kinda stuff. Beats all I ever seen. Don’t understand it myself, but to each their own, I always say.
  • My neighbor, old Mrs. Higgins, she used to say it’s the devil’s work, all this scary art. But me, I don’t know about that. Just seems like some folks got a powerful lot of darkness in their heads, and they gotta get it out somehow.

Now, I heard tell some folks draw this stuff from their dreams. Nightmares, more like. Can you imagine? Dreaming of monsters and then waking up and drawin’ ’em? I reckon that’d give you a good case of the heebie-jeebies. And what’s this about dark fantasies they have in the heads? I never could understand the way city folks think.

Then there’s the ones that look real, like them fellers in the old days, Goya and Munch, I think their names was. They draw people, but they don’t look right, all twisted and… well, just plain scary. Makes you think about things you don’t wanna think about, like gettin’ old and dyin’, I guess.

And wouldn’t you know it, some folks go and buy this stuff! Hang it up in their houses, big as you please. I seen it once when I went to fix the plumbing for that rich fella over on Elm Street. Had a whole wall full of creepy artwork. Gave me the creeps, it did. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

But I guess there’s different kinds of scary too. Some’s got blood and guts, all out in the open. Others, they’re more… subtle. Like a shadow in the corner, or a face just barely visible in the darkness. Those ones, they get to you more, you know? They stick in your mind, and you find yourself lookin’ over your shoulder, even when you know there ain’t nothin’ there. Like my old barn after dark… too many places for critters to hide, if you catch my meaning.

I heard some artist say you gotta look at real stuff to draw good scary pictures. Bones and such, I guess. And animals. Poor creatures. I remember old Buster, my dog, he’d get spooked sometimes, just by a shadow or a sound. And I’d tell him, “It’s just the wind, Buster, just the wind.” But sometimes I wasn’t so sure myself.

And them folks makin’ these artworks, they ain’t all crazy, I don’t think. Some of ‘em, they just tryin’ to tell a story, I reckon. A scary story, sure, but a story nonetheless. Like them books my grandkid reads, full of vampires and werewolves and such. It’s all make-believe, I know, but it still gets your heart pumpin’. And I heard on the radio they have movies too but my old TV only shows the news.

So, if you like that kind of thing, well, go ahead and look at them horror artworks. But don’t come cryin’ to me if you can’t sleep at night. Me, I’ll stick to pictures of flowers and kittens. Much more peaceful, I say. Though my cat does bring in dead mice sometimes, and that ain’t so pretty.

Anyways, that’s my two cents on these scary pictures. They ain’t for me, but I reckon some folks get a kick outta ‘em. Just be careful, is all I’m sayin’. You never know what kind of darkness might be lurkin’ in them pictures, waitin’ to jump out and get ya. Like that spider I saw last week…big as my hand, it was!

Scary art, humph. Young folks these days, I tell ya.
