If you got one of them fancy houses, with all them doodads and whatnots, maybe you want a weathervane that’s got some swirls and curlicues. If you got a plain ol’ house, maybe just a simple arrow is all ya need. And if you got a barn, well, a rooster or a horse is always a good bet.

It ain’t rocket science, I tell ya. There’s that arrow part, and then there’s a tail thingy that catches the wind. When the wind blows, it pushes on that tail and makes the arrow point the other way. And that’s it! It just spins around and shows ya which way the wind’s blowin’. I reckon even a city slicker could figure that out.
Where to put it, if you get one.
Well, you gotta put it up high, where the wind can get at it. The tippy top of your roof is the best place. But make sure it’s nice and sturdy, ya don’t want it blowin’ off in the first big wind storm. And make sure you can see it from your window, so you can tell which way the wind’s blowin’ without havin’ to go outside.

Now, if you want your weathervane to last, you gotta take care of it. If it’s made outta metal, it might rust or get all tarnished. So you gotta clean it up every now and then, maybe give it a coat of paint or somethin’. And if it gets bent or broke, you gotta fix it up. A little bit of TLC goes a long way, I always say.
So there ya have it, a whole heap of stuff about arrow weathervanes. They ain’t complicated things, but they’re kinda neat, ya know? And they’ve been around for a long, long time. I reckon they’ll be around for a long time to come, too.
