Norse Commons Hours Explained: Get All Your Questions Answered
Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Norse Commons hours thing, ya know, the place where them youngsters eat and hang out. I ain’t been there myself, but my grandkid, he talks about it all the time. So, I figure I can piece it together for ya.
Norse Commons, what’s that? Sounds fancy, don’t it? It’s this building, see, at that university, the one up the road. Kids go there to eat, sleep, and Lord knows what else. They got all sorts of food places inside, like Starbucks, and some market thing, and even a place that sells steaks, can ya believe it? Steaks for them young’uns!
Now, when is this place open? That’s the real question, ain’t it? Seems like they change their mind more often than I change my socks. But from what I hear, they open up pretty early and stay open till ’bout 8:00 pm most days. That’s late for me, I’m tellin’ ya, I’m usually in bed by then, watchin’ my stories on the TV.

- Steak N Shake: Open, don’t know when they close, but they’re open
But see, that ain’t the whole story. They got these things called “academic years,” fancy talk for when school’s in session. And during that time, they got different hours, I guess. And then there’s weekends, and holidays, and who knows what else. It’s enough to make your head spin, I tell ya.
Why do they change the hours? Well, I heard it’s all ’bout money. They gotta pay for the lights, and the food, and all them folks who work there. So, they try to figure out when most of the kids are around, and that’s when they keep the place open. Makes sense, I guess, but it sure is confusing for folks like me, just tryin’ to keep up.
And if you need help, like if you lost your keys or somethin’, they got these “help desks.” One’s in this Boothe Village, sounds like a nice place, and the other’s in East Village. They’re open, but again, I ain’t sure ’bout the exact times. They should just put up a big sign, that’s what I say. Plain and simple.
Where is this Norse Commons place anyway? It’s in Highland Heights, Kentucky. That’s what I heard. Now, I ain’t never been to Highland Heights, but my nephew, he went there once to fix a roof. Said it was a nice place, lots of trees and such.
And get this, they got 15 different places to eat on that campus! Fifteen! When I was young, we had one store, and if you didn’t like what they had, well, you went hungry. These kids today, they got it too easy, I tell ya. And they can use their “meal swipes” at Norse Commons and the food court, ‘cept for Starbucks and the market. Meal swipes? Sounds like somethin’ you’d use to clean the table.
They also got this Callahan place, somethin’ called a bistro. Sounds even fancier than Norse Commons. And they got Papa John’s and Coyote Jack’s, whatever those are. Too many choices, if you ask me. Makes a person dizzy just thinkin’ ’bout it.
So, if you wanna know the real hours, your best bet is to go down there and ask, or maybe call ’em on the telephone. They got them newfangled phones now, you can look up anything on ’em. But me? I’d rather just ask someone. That’s the way we used to do things, and it worked just fine.
This whole Norse Commons hours thing, it’s a bit of a puzzle, ain’t it? But I done my best to explain it to ya, the way I understand it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, my stories are comin’ on, and I gotta go see what’s happenin’ with them folks on the TV. They got their own problems, I tell ya, just like them kids with their ever-changin’ Norse Commons hours.
And if you are lookin’ for the rates for the food, they got those too. You have to look for the academic year rates. That will tell you how much the food costs. They probably change those too, every year or so. Everything changes so much these days, it’s hard to keep track of it all, I’m tellin’ you.
