Well, let me tell you, I seen a lot of things in my time, but them paintings of black horses, they’re somethin’ else. Just somethin’ about ’em, you know? Makes a room feel…different. Strong, maybe. Like that time Big Jim’s stallion got loose and ran through Mildred’s flowerbeds. A sight to behold, that was! Just like them paintings.
My neighbor, she got one of them black horse paintings. Hung it right up over her sofa. Big fella it was, in the picture, I mean. Eyes all fiery and such. She says it brings her luck. Says it keeps the bad spirits away. I don’t know ’bout all that, but it sure does look nice. Makes the room feel bigger, somehow. Gotta be a place where it can really shine, you know? Like the star of the show. Center of the room is good. Above the fireplace, if you got one.
My cousin, bless her heart, she put hers in the hallway. Dark as a well in there, it is. Can barely see the poor horse. Waste of a good picture, I tell ya. You want folks to see it, don’t ya? Show it off a bit? That’s what I say.

Sun was settin’, sky was all fire and gold. That horse, it was just a shadow, movin’ like the wind. Took my breath away, it did. These paintings, they remind me of that. Capture that feelin’, somehow.
You can put these paintings of black horses anywhere, really. Livin’ room, bedroom, even the kitchen if you want. Though I don’t know why you’d want a horse watchin’ you eat your supper. Seems a bit odd to me. But hey, to each their own, right? Like my sister, she puts ketchup on everything. Even her scrambled eggs. Makes me shudder just thinkin’ about it.
If you want your horse painting to be the main thing, the big cheese, the… well, you get the idea. You gotta make sure nothin’ else is takin’ the attention away. Like when you go to a wedding, don’t wear white to take away from the bride. You know what I mean? Same thing. You gotta put it up where it is the first thing you see when you walk in. Make people say “Wow, look at that painting of a black horse!”
There are some don’ts, too, you know. Like, don’t put it in a dark corner. And don’t hang it too high or too low. Gotta be just right. Like Goldilocks and her porridge. Not too hot, not too cold, just right in the middle.
And don’t put too many other things around it. Clutters it up. Makes it hard to see the horse. Like tryin’ to find a needle in a haystack. Or like tryin’ to find my good teeth when I misplace ’em. Takes forever, it does.
So, yeah, them paintings of black horses. They’re somethin’ special, alright. Bring a little bit of that wild, free spirit into your home. Just make sure you treat ’em right, and they’ll do right by you. That’s what I always say. Treat folks, and animals, and even pictures, with respect, and you’ll get it back tenfold.
