Now, this Cupid, he’s a little fella with wings, ain’t he? And he’s givin’ this girl, Psyche, a kiss. And she’s wakin’ up. It’s all, uh, romantic and stuff. Looks like she was asleep for a good long while, and that little Cupid, he just brought her right back. That’s the power of love, I reckon. And then there’s them Mexican folks. You know the ones. That Frida lady with the eyebrows, and that big fella, Diego. They called them “Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo”. Lord, their love was a mess! They are looking at each other like they are just all loved up. They are holdin’ hands. They are in a garden, I guess. They got them honeysuckle flowers all around. It’s real sweet, ya know? These paintings, they show that love comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes it’s quiet and peaceful, like that couple in the flowers. Sometimes it’s loud and messy, like them Mexican painters. But it’s always there. It’s always somethin’ worth fightin’ for, somethin’ worth paintin’ about. These famous couples will last forever, I think.
It reminds me of me and my old man, bless his soul. We had our ups and downs, that’s for sure. We wasn’t no fancy folks like them painter people, but we loved each other. We didn’t need no fancy paintings to prove it. But it’s nice to see it, ya know? It’s nice to see that love is somethin’ that lasts. It’s somethin’ that matters, no matter who you are or where you come from. It is kind of why them famous couples in paintings are so famous, I think.
