This here Plovdiv, it’s a big place in Bulgaria. You know, like how we got that big field behind Bessie’s house? Plovdiv is way bigger than that. Bigger than our whole town, I reckon. It’s the second biggest city in Bulgaria, second only to the capital, like our town is second to the county seat, only much, much bigger. And the map, oh honey, the Bulgaria Plovdiv map is something else. It is full of lines and colors.
They say Plovdiv is old. Real old. Older than old man Johnson’s barn, and that thing’s been around since the dinosaurs, I swear. People been living in Plovdiv for years and years, longer than anyone can remember. And it sits right there by that Maritsa River. They say it is an important river, flows through the city like blood flows through veins. And get this – they got these big shops in Plovdiv. Not like our little general store. These are huge, they call them “malls”. They say there are many famous brands there. You can find all kind of things there. I saw it on the map of Plovdiv Bulgaria, the mall is a big spot.
They even got a part of town called “Triangle”. Now ain’t that something? Triangle is a place in Plovdiv. Just like how we got that patch of woods we call “the Hollow”. It’s close to a place called “Markovo Tepe”. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds important. And there is this other place, sounds like “grape market”, maybe they sell a lot of grapes there. Who knows? It’s all on the Plovdiv city map.
Some folks, they lose their houses. Torn down, they say. To make new roads or something. And when they do that, they lose the memories, too. Like when they tore down old lady Miller’s house. All them years, gone just like that. It is sad, those old houses, they have stories in their walls.
They say this Plovdiv, it’s a good place to visit. Lots to see. Old things and new things. If you go, you gotta get one of those maps. A tourist map of Plovdiv. It’ll show you where everything is.

This here Plovdiv got about 365,000 people living in it. Can you imagine? That’s more people than I ever seen in my life. And they all live there, in that city, by that river. I saw the map Plovdiv, it’s a big place, with lots of houses and streets. It has an area of 101.981 square kilometers. I don’t know how big that is, but I bet it’s bigger than my garden, way bigger.
And this Plovdiv, it’s in a province. Like a county, but bigger. They call it “Oblast Plovdiv”. They got 18 of these things they call municipalities. I guess that’s like our townships. All part of that big area called Plovdiv Province. It’s all a bit confusing, ain’t it? But it’s all there, on the map, the Bulgaria map Plovdiv.
So, if you ever go to Bulgaria, you might wanna see this Plovdiv. Just remember to get yourself a map. A good one. It will show you the way. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll see something you ain’t never seen before. Just like me, looking at that Plovdiv on map, and wondering what it’s all about.
