Well, let me tell ya, them French folks, they sure know how to slap some paint on a canvas! I seen a lot of pictures in my day, but them famous French artists paintings, they’re somethin’ else. You know what I mean?
Famous French Artists
There was this one fella, what was his name? Claude Monet. Yeah, that’s it! That Monet guy, he could paint a lily pond like nobody’s business. I reckon he’s one of the most famous, that French artist. He was born a long time ago in Paris, they say, in 1840. Started off copyin’ other fellas, like this Gustave Courbet. But that Monet, he found his own way, didn’t he?

And then there’s that Henri Matisse. He painted all sorts of crazy, colorful things. Some folks say he was the best at usin’ colors. I don’t know nothin’ about that, but his pictures sure are bright, I’ll give him that! He was a painter, that’s for sure.
Famous Paintings
They got this one paintin’, “Liberty Leading the People.” Sounds important, don’t it? I ain’t seen it in person, mind you, but I seen pictures. It’s got a whole mess of people in it, all stirred up about somethin’.
That Monet fella, he did a whole bunch of them paintings of water lilies. Must’ve really liked them flowers. I guess they were pretty. But he painted other stuff too, like haystacks and such. This one painting, they call it “Impression, Sunrise.” I don’t know what’s so impressive about a sunrise, we see ’em every day, but what do I know?
All Them Artists in Paris
Seems like all them French artists, they all went to Paris. Big city, I reckon. Lots of fancy buildin’s and such. They got that place, the Louvre, that’s full of old pictures. I bet it would take you a month of Sundays just to see ’em all!
There’s more of ’em, these artists. This Andr� Derain, Pierre Bonnard, and a fella named Jean Dubuffet. They all painted in Paris, too, long time ago. Then that big war came, World War II, and I guess a lot of them went their own ways. War changes things, you know.
These Paintings, They’re Somethin’
I tell ya, these famous French artists paintings, they’re somethin’ to behold. Even an old gal like me can appreciate ’em. They might not be my cup of tea, all them fancy colors and whatnot, but you gotta respect the work that went into ’em.

I seen pictures of some of ’em, and they sure are detailed. Like that Monet fella, paintin’ every little ripple in the water. And that Matisse, with all them bright colors just jumpin’ out at ya. It’s like they captured a little piece of the world and put it on a canvas.
Wish I Could See ‘Em
I wish I could see some of them famous French paintings in person. Maybe one day. But I reckon pictures will have to do for now. They say a picture’s worth a thousand words, and I guess that’s true. You can look at one of them paintings and just get lost in it. It’s like a whole story, right there on the canvas.
Well, I reckon that’s enough about them French artists. They sure did make some pretty pictures, though. Maybe I’ll go look at some more pictures now. It’s better than watchin’ that old television, that’s for sure!
