Paintings with circles: Check out beautiful options and learn easy ways to display them nicely
Okay, so I’ve been seeing these circle paintings all over Pinterest lately, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, how hard could it be, right? It’s just circles. Turns out, it’s actually pretty fun, and you can get some really cool results even if you’re not exactly an artist.
First, I gathered my supplies. I dug out some old acrylic paints I had lying around from that one time I thought I’d become the next Picasso. I also grabbed a few canvases from the dollar store – gotta keep it budget-friendly, you know? And of course, brushes. Different sizes, because apparently, that matters. I also found some round objects to use as stencils like cups and bottle caps in different sizes.
Next, I started playing around with colors. I’m no color theory expert, but I figured out that just picking a few colors that you like and mixing them up to get lighter and darker shades works pretty well. No need to overthink it. Then I started tracing the circles onto the canvas using my makeshift stencils. Big circles, small circles, overlapping circles – I just went with the flow.

- Started filling in some circles with my brighter colors.
Then came the fun part – actually painting! I started filling in the circles, trying to blend the colors a bit where they overlapped. Honestly, it was kind of messy, but in a good way. It’s like, the less you try to control it, the better it looks. I decided to do this in layers, letting each layer dry before adding more on top. It helps in blending the colors more smoothly and gives this cool, textured effect. I tried to highlight some areas with lighter shades and added darker shades for shadows. I guess this is supposed to make it look 3D or something, but mostly I just liked how it looked.
After a few hours of painting and letting it dry, I ended up with something that actually looked pretty decent! I mean, it’s not gonna win any awards, but it’s definitely something I’d hang on my wall. It’s got this cool, abstract vibe, and it was way more fun to make than I expected.
My Final Thoughts
Honestly, I think anyone can do this. You don’t need any special skills, just some paint, brushes, and a willingness to get a little messy. It’s a great way to unwind and just let your creativity flow. Plus, you get a cool piece of art out of it. I’m definitely gonna try this again, maybe with different colors or sizes of circles. Who knows, maybe I’ll even get good at it someday. It turned out way better than I thought it would. If I can do it, anyone can. Give it a try!
