I recently got really into checking out landmarks, so naturally, I had to hit up Germany. I mean, who wouldn’t? It’s got history, beer, and those fairytale castles everyone talks about. Plus, I’ve always wanted to see Berlin and some of those UNESCO World Heritage sites with my own eyes. So, I booked my tickets, packed my bags, and set off on this adventure. It was all pretty spontaneous, to be honest.
First off, I flew into Berlin because, well, it’s Berlin. Landing there, the first thing on my list was the Brandenburg Gate. I’d seen pictures, but seeing it in person is something else. It’s massive, and you can just feel the history around it. I spent a good while there, just soaking it in and snapping a ton of photos. It was a great start.
Then, I wanted to see a real-life fairytale castle. I’d heard so much about Neuschwanstein Castle, so I figured out how to get to this place called Hohenschwangau. It’s this little village in the Bavarian Alps, and honestly, getting there was half the fun. I took a train, then a bus, and the views were just incredible. The castle itself? Mind-blowing. It’s like straight out of a Disney movie, perched up on a hill, all majestic and whatnot.

After the castle, I hopped on another train to Cologne. I’d read that Cologne Cathedral is a big deal, like the most visited place in Germany, and it’s also a UNESCO site. When I got there, I could see why. This cathedral is enormous and so detailed. I climbed up to the top, and the view of the city was worth every step. Plus, learning about its history and how it’s been this important pilgrimage site for ages was pretty cool.
I did some research on how to get around, and it seemed like trains and buses were the way to go. I’m not really into that BlaBlaCar thing, I prefer knowing my transport is sorted. Prices can jump around, so I made sure to plan my routes and book in advance. This was my first time doing something like this, so I was kind of nervous about getting lost or something, but it all worked out fine.

Honestly, this trip was one for the books. Seeing the Brandenburg Gate, Neuschwanstein Castle, and Cologne Cathedral in person was amazing. Each place has its own vibe, its own story. And getting around wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. It made me realize how much I love exploring places with such rich history and beauty.
