Whats the Best Mountains Landscape Painting Style Find Inspiration and Top Techniques for Artists
Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with paints again, and this time I tried my hand at a mountains landscape painting. I’m no Bob Ross, but I like getting my hands dirty and seeing what I can create, you know?
First off, I gathered all my stuff. I’ve got this mishmash of acrylic paints I’ve collected over time, some old brushes that have seen better days, and a canvas I picked up from a craft store. Nothing fancy, just the basics. I’m not aiming for a masterpiece here, just wanted to capture some of that epic, dramatic feel you get from mountains.
I started by sketching out the scene on the canvas. Just rough lines, nothing too detailed. I pictured these huge, towering mountains in the distance, you know the kind that make you feel tiny? Then I got to work on the sky. I mixed a bunch of blues and whites, trying to get that gradient effect from dark to light. It was a bit of a struggle, not gonna lie. Blending is harder than it looks!
- Mixing colors: This is where the real fun began. I played around with different shades of blue, green, and gray to get the colors I wanted for the mountains and the foreground.
- Laying down the base colors: I started with the background, slapping on paint somewhat haphazardly to get the basic shapes and colors down. I wasn’t worried about being neat at this stage.
- Adding details: Once the base colors were dry, I started adding details. I used a smaller brush to create texture on the mountains, making them look rocky and rugged. I also added some trees and stuff in the foreground to give it some depth.
Honestly, the whole process was a bit chaotic. I kept stepping back, squinting at my canvas, and adding more paint here and there. I’m not sure if I followed any “proper” techniques, but I was just going with the flow, trying to capture the essence of the scene in my own way.
The Result
After a few hours of painting, I finally called it done. It’s definitely not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s got that raw, untamed feel I was going for. It reminds me of those hikes I used to take in the mountains, where you’re surrounded by all this natural beauty and it just takes your breath away.
I think I’ll hang it up in my living room. It’ll be a good conversation starter, and it’ll remind me to get back out there and explore nature some more. Painting this landscape made me realize how much I miss those wild, open spaces. Maybe next time I’ll try to paint a forest or a river scene. Who knows? The possibilities are endless!
