OK, so, I’ve been wanting to get into this whole “Pop Art” thing for a while now. You know, that colorful, kinda in-your-face style that takes stuff from everyday life and turns it into art? It just looks so cool, but I honestly didn’t know where to start. So I figured, why not try to make a book about it? Not like a serious, textbook kind of book, but more like a fun, visual journey through the whole Pop Art scene.
First, I had to get my head around what Pop Art even is. I mean, I’ve seen the pictures of soup cans and comic strips, but I wanted to know more about the why behind it all. So I started reading up and this is my foundation of my book. Turns out, it was kind of a big deal back in the day, a reaction to all the serious, traditional art that was around. These Pop Art guys were like, “Hey, let’s use stuff from ads, from TV, from comics, you know, the stuff regular people see every day.” And that was that. I felt that the art exhibited in museums or taught at schools did not represent the real world. I wanted to change it!
Then I started collecting images. I spent hours looking through old magazines, comic books, and even some old billboards, anything that had that Pop Art vibe. I wanted this book to be packed with visuals, to really show what the movement was all about. Screen printing is very important in my book! Easily made and easily reproduced.

- Designed layouts: How to make it all look good together.
Next up, I needed to learn about the artists. Who were the big names? What were their most famous pieces? I made a list of all the ones I wanted to include, and I dug up some info on each of them. Not like a boring biography, but just enough to give people an idea of who they were and what they were about. I also found some quotes from them, which was pretty cool. This movement was inspired by popular and commercial culture. I needed to add it in my book!
Putting it all together
Once I had all my materials, I started putting the book together. I played around with different layouts, trying to make it look interesting and fun. I wanted each page to be a surprise, like you’re flipping through an old scrapbook. I even added some of my own drawings, inspired by the Pop Art style. This book is a collaboration with the public and the essence of popular culture.
It was a lot of work, I won’t lie. There were times when I felt like giving up, like maybe this whole book idea was too ambitious. But then I’d look at all the cool images I’d collected, and I’d remember why I started this project in the first place. I wanted to share my love for Pop Art with other people, to show them how awesome and fun it can be.
And you know what? I actually did it. I finished the book. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And I’m pretty proud of it. It’s a little rough around the edges, but I think that just adds to its charm. It’s a real, handmade tribute to the Pop Art movement, and I hope people enjoy it.
