Okay, so, I tried my hand at this “Revolution Paint” thing. You know, the one that’s supposed to be all the rage now? Yeah, I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I’m always up for a good DIY project, and my living room was looking a little…blah.
First, I had to figure out where to even get this stuff. Turns out, it’s exclusive to Menards. Who knew? I guess it’s some kind of special deal they have with Pittsburgh Paints & Stains. Anyway, I drove down there and, sure enough, they had a whole section of it. It’s supposed to be like their “UltraLast” paint, which I guess is good?
Getting Started
- Found the paint: Okay, so yeah, Menards. Got it. Grabbed a few gallons of this “Revolution” stuff. The guy at the store said it was flying off the shelves.
- Prep work is key: Before I even popped open the first can, I spent some time prepping the room. That meant moving furniture, taping off the edges, and laying down drop cloths. A real pain, but you gotta do it.
- First coat: I cracked open the paint and started rolling it on. I started by cutting in around the edges with a brush. It went on pretty smoothly.
The Process
Now, this paint is supposed to be some kind of miracle worker. They call it “PPG Clean Surface Technology.” Sounds fancy, right? I guess it’s supposed to hide imperfections and make the finish look really smooth. I was a little skeptical, but I have to admit, it did a pretty good job covering up some old scuff marks and stuff. I guess that “premium hide” claim is legit.
The thing about painting is, it’s not just about the paint itself. It’s about the whole process. Like, did you know that the oldest evidence of people making paint is from like 100,000 years ago? Crazy, right? Anyway, I digress. Back to the Revolution Paint. The drying time wasn’t bad. I’m used to those old-school, smelly paints that take forever to dry. This stuff dried pretty quickly, which was a nice surprise.
The Results
After a couple of coats, I have to say, I was pretty impressed. The living room looked completely different. The finish was definitely smooth, and it did a good job of covering up all the imperfections. I did the ceiling too and it really brightened up the whole place.
So, is Revolution Paint worth the hype? I’d say so. It’s not magic, but it’s definitely a good quality paint. It’s easy to apply, dries quickly, and the finish is really nice. Plus, it’s got that “Clean Surface Technology” thing going for it, whatever that means. If you’re looking to freshen up a room, I’d say give it a try. Just remember to prep properly, and you’ll be golden. That’s what I learned from this whole experience, anyway.
I also learned that there are things like “RP Exterior Premium Skimcoat” for patching up concrete and “RP TextureCote” for a sand-based texture. And people use chalk paint on furniture. I just wanted a simple, clean look for my living room, but maybe I’ll get adventurous next time. Who knows?
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go admire my freshly painted living room. All in all, not a bad way to spend a weekend!
