Alma Thomas Coloring Sheet: Fun and Easy Art Activity for All Ages!

Hey everyone, today I want to share my little art project with you all – it’s an Alma Thomas coloring sheet. It’s based on the works of this really cool artist, Alma Woodsey Thomas. I kinda got hooked on her style recently, so I thought, why not make a coloring page out of it?

First off, I grabbed a bunch of her artworks online. Just browsing through them was a treat. Her use of colors and those abstract shapes, especially the circles, are just mesmerizing. I picked one that really spoke to me, something with a lot of circles, because who doesn’t love circles, right?

Then, I got down to drawing. I didn’t copy it exactly, you know, just took the vibe of it. I sketched out a bunch of circles on a piece of paper, some big, some small, overlapping each other. It felt pretty good, just letting my hand flow and creating shapes. It’s like, you’re making something complex out of something so simple.

  • Started with a simple circle in the middle.
  • Added more circles around it, varying the sizes.
  • Made sure some circles overlapped to create new shapes.
  • Kept drawing until the whole page was filled with these lovely circles.

After I was happy with the layout, I went over the pencil lines with a black marker. This part was kind of therapeutic, tracing over the lines, making them bold and clear. And there it was, my very own Alma Thomas-inspired coloring sheet.

The next part was the most fun – coloring! I dug out my old colored pencils and started filling in the shapes. I tried to channel Alma’s vibrant energy, using bright and bold colors. Each circle got its own color, or sometimes I mixed a couple of colors together. It’s amazing how different colors can change the whole feel of the drawing.

Coloring Tips I Found Useful

  • Don’t stick to one color per circle, mix it up!
  • Use different shades of the same color to add depth.
  • Go wild with the color combinations, there’s no wrong choice.

It took a few hours, but it was so worth it. Coloring this thing was not just fun, it was also kind of relaxing. I ended up with this colorful, vibrant page that’s a bit of Alma Thomas and a bit of me. I think I might frame it, or maybe make another one.

So, that’s my little art adventure for today. If you’re looking for a chill activity or just want to try something new, I definitely recommend giving this a shot. It’s easy, it’s fun, and you end up with something pretty cool.
