Alright, so today I wanna talk about this staff I’ve been messing around with in Golden Sun – the Demonic Staff. This thing’s got some serious power, but it comes with a catch, it’s cursed! Let me tell you about my experience with it.
First off, I got my hands on the Demonic Staff. It boosts attack by a whopping 92 points, which is pretty sweet. When you unleash it, it does this “Bad Omen” thing that adds another 43 damage. But here’s the kicker – it can also “Haunt” the enemy. Sounds cool, right? Well, it is, but being cursed means it comes with some nasty side effects, like debuffs for my own character. I spent hours trying to figure it out.
Like most cursed gear, this staff is a double-edged sword. I learned that cursed equipment is only really useful with something like the Cleric’s Ring, which cancels out the negative effects. It took me some time, but I finally found one. Even then, it’s not a huge upgrade compared to other stuff you can find later in the game. It felt like a bit of a letdown, honestly. Because of the curse, I barely used it. It just sat in my inventory most of the time. I even tried using the Muramasa, another cursed weapon, but it was the same story.
I also did some digging and found out that there’s another staff, the Zodiac Wand. It gives an even bigger attack boost – 102 – and has a special attack called “Shining Star” that adds 57 damage. No curse on this one! Definitely seems like the better option, but it’s not as easy to get. Finding it was fun. I entered the house’s backdoor(blindspot) and found a hidden ladder. I climbed down to the small screen. I fought through a bunch of skeletons, ghosts, and bats, which ultimately led me to the second earth djinni!
I decided to switch things up and experimented with the Djinn system. Man, that’s where the real fun is! Using Djinn to finish off enemies and getting those “rainbow kills” for extra experience and gold is super satisfying. I spent hours just battling monsters and trying out different Djinn combinations. It made the game so much more engaging. I even found some cheat codes to modify levels and other features. It really opened my eyes to how cool this game is!
So, after all that, here’s my take. The Demonic Staff is a cool weapon, but the curse makes it more trouble than it’s worth. There are better options, and I found myself enjoying the game more when I focused on using Djinn and exploring the world of Weyard. If you’re new to Golden Sun, use your Djinn. You’ll thank me later.
