How much does saber graffiti art cost? Find out the pricing for commissions, murals, and original pieces
Okay, so, I got this idea the other day, right? I was thinking about spicing up my boring, plain wall at home. I wanted something cool, something edgy, you know? And then it hit me – graffiti! But not just any graffiti, I wanted a piece featuring Saber from Fate/stay night. Yeah, I’m a bit of a fan.
So, I started looking into this whole graffiti thing. First off, I had no clue how much it would cost. Turns out, it ain’t cheap! I did some digging online, and it seems like prices can vary a lot. I saw that for a 50 square foot wall, the lowest price was like $500, and that’s for something pretty basic. For a really detailed piece, it could be way more. And I was thinking I wanted this Saber art to be pretty detailed, because, well, it’s Saber!
Then I started thinking about the complexity. I mean, I know I wanted Saber, but what kind of pose? What kind of background? I spent a good few hours browsing through images, trying to get some inspiration. I realized that the more complicated the design, the more it’s gonna cost me. I read somewhere that a good rule of thumb is to double the cost of materials and then add an hourly rate. And it said that $20 an hour is not bad, with the average being around $25. Man, this was getting complicated!
I started sketching some ideas. Now, I’m no artist, but I wanted to get a general idea of what I wanted. I doodled a few different poses of Saber, some with Excalibur, some without. I even tried to draw a simple background with some cool colors. Let me tell you, drawing is hard! My Saber looked more like a stick figure with a sword, but hey, at least I was trying.
Next, I had to decide if I wanted to try doing this myself or hire someone. Doing it myself would be cheaper, for sure. But then I looked at my stick figure Saber again and realized that it might be a disaster. Hiring someone, on the other hand, meant spending more money, but I’d get a way better result.
I decided to sleep on it. The next morning, after a cup of coffee and some more thinking, I made up my mind. I was going to hire a professional. I just couldn’t risk messing up my wall with my terrible drawing skills.
I started searching for local graffiti artists. I found a few with some pretty impressive portfolios. I reached out to them, explained my idea, and asked for quotes. This is where I am at right now. Waiting to hear back from the artists, hoping that one of them can bring my Saber graffiti art to life, and, most importantly, hoping it won’t cost me an arm and a leg!
I also learned from others that the size of the wall matters, if I want to make it smaller, it will be cheaper and easier to make. Now, I am considering that I can make it smaller, maybe 20 square feet will be enough.
- Started with an idea: Saber graffiti art for my wall.
- Researched pricing: Found out it can range from $500 to much more for a 50 sq ft wall, depending on detail.
- Considered complexity: Realized more detailed designs cost more.
- Tried sketching: My Saber looked like a stick figure, but I got a basic idea.
- Weighed DIY vs. hiring: Decided to hire a professional to avoid ruining my wall.
- Contacted artists: Waiting for quotes, hoping for a good price and a great result.
- Revised the size: Reduced the size from 50 square feet to 20 square feet to make it cheaper.
I’ll keep you guys updated on how this whole thing goes. It’s definitely been an interesting experience so far, and I’m excited to see how it turns out!
