Oracle Oasis features: Everything you need to know here!

Okay, so, I’ve been digging into this thing called Oracle Analytics Server, or OAS for short. It’s kind of a big deal if you’re into data and all that jazz. Basically, it is the on-premises version of Oracle Analytics Cloud. It is like a bridge between the old-school OBIEE and the fancy cloud stuff. I heard it is pretty much packed with all the cloud features, even some AI magic.

First off, I got my hands on it by getting it installed on our local servers. I will be honest. The installation wasn’t a walk in the park. I did get through a bunch of documents and it took a good chunk of my time. But it is cool to know how it all gets set up from scratch.

Once I got it up and running, I started playing around with connecting to different data sources. We have got stuff all over the place – databases, spreadsheets, you name it. OAS lets you pull it all into one place, which is super useful. I spent a whole afternoon just figuring out how to hook it up to our main database, I tried again and again until it worked.

After getting all the data linked up, I got into building some dashboards.

  • I started with the basics, you know, some bar charts and pie charts to show the usual sales stuff.
  • Then I got a bit fancier and started messing with more advanced visualizations. It’s wild what you can do with it.
  • You can slice and dice the data in so many ways, and it all updates in real-time, which is pretty neat.

I also tried out some of the predictive analytics features, which was an interesting thing. I am not going to lie. I don’t fully get how all that works, but I fed it some historical data, and it started spitting out forecasts. I did notice there are so many AI and machine learning features. It felt like magic when I was using those features. It is cool to see that kind of stuff in action, even if I’m not 100% sure I could explain it to someone else.

What else?

Oh, I also shared a few of my dashboards with the team. I have to say, this part is pretty easy, which is good, you know? It is easy to collaborate with colleagues. They could check out what I made and even make some changes themselves. It’s all very collaborative, which I like.

So yeah, that’s my journey with Oracle Analytics Server so far. I felt I am still just scratching the surface, but I have already seen enough to know it is a powerful tool. It’s not the easiest thing to get the hang of, but once you do, you can do some cool stuff with it. I’m excited to keep exploring and see what else I can make it do. After all, it is pretty cool to integrate all different data sources in one platform. It really makes everything easier.
