Curious about is there hierarchy in heaven? Get the basic facts!
So, I’ve been doing some digging lately, and I’ve got this question that’s been bugging me: is there a hierarchy in heaven? You know, like, are some angels more important than others? I started by looking up what people have been saying about this online.
I found some stuff that says there are different types of angels. Like, at the top, there are these guys called seraphim, cherubim, and thrones. Then there’s a middle group with dominions, powers, and virtues. And at the bottom, there are principalities, archangels, and just regular angels. It’s like a corporate ladder, but with wings. Apparently, this isn’t just from the Bible, but also from some other old books, like this dude Thomas Aquinas’s “Summa Theologica,” and some writings from Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite – now there’s a name for you.
I read that this whole setup shows how God’s in charge, then Jesus, then men, and then women. But it’s not like the lower you go, the less valuable you are. It’s more like everyone has a role, and it all works together for God’s plan. The top-tier angels are all about God, so in old paintings, they often have red faces, like they’re blushing or something. Then there are the middle guys – dominations, virtues, and powers.
- Some sources say there’s definitely a hierarchy.
- Others say, “Nope, no hierarchy here.”
- And then there are those who say, “Yeah, there’s a hierarchy, and people are gonna be in charge up there.”
So, I started to look at what the Bible had to say. I found this bit where Jesus says that even the “least in the kingdom of God” will be greater than Elijah the Prophet. That’s like saying the intern is more important than the CEO. And then Paul wrote something about… well, I got a little lost there, to be honest.
There was also something I read about the “hierarchy in the kingdom of God.” It said that just like we have hierarchies on Earth, there’s probably one in heaven too. Makes sense, I guess. Everything’s got to be organized, right?
I watched this video where a guy named Hank talked about the hierarchy in heaven. He seemed pretty sure about it. But then I started wondering, if heaven is supposed to be perfect, why would we need a hierarchy? Isn’t that kind of a human thing?
Then there is this other guy named Daniel that someone asked about, and whether it is talking about God or Christ. I am still not sure about that one.
Anyway, I did more reading and looking into this, but the more I dug, the more confused I got. It’s like one of those puzzles where you think you’ve got it figured out, but then you realize you’re just making it more complicated.
So, I decided to take a break from all the reading and just think about it for a while. I mean, what does it really matter if there’s a hierarchy in heaven? Is it going to change anything about how I live my life? Probably not. But it’s still interesting to think about.
My Conclusion (for now)
I’m still not sure what to believe about this whole hierarchy in heaven thing. Maybe there is, maybe there isn’t. Maybe it’s something we’re not even supposed to understand. But it was a fun little research project, and it gave me something to think about. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll figure it all out. Or maybe I’ll just leave it as one of those great mysteries of life. After all, where’s the fun if you know all the answers?
