Alright, so I got inspired the other day and decided to mess around with that famous Don Quixote painting by Picasso. You know the one, it’s pretty iconic. I’ve always liked that one. It’s just so… different. Anyway, I figured, why not try to recreate it myself? It couldn’t be that hard, right?
So I went ahead and grabbed some supplies. Nothing fancy, just some basic paper and a few pens I had lying around. I didn’t want to get too serious with it, you know? Just wanted to have some fun, and see what happened.
Starting the Process
First, I pulled up a picture of the painting on my phone. Just so I had something to look at. Then, I started sketching out the basic shapes. Don Quixote, his horse, his little buddy… all of that. I didn’t worry about making it perfect, because in Picasso’s one it’s not perfect.

I just kept looking back and forth between my phone and my paper, trying to get the general idea down. It was actually harder than I thought it would be! Filling in the Details
Once I had the basic shapes down, I started filling in some details. Like, Don Quixote’s lance, and the sun in the background. Little things like that. It was kind of meditative, actually. Just focusing on those simple lines and shapes, trying to make them look like something. It made my mind quiet.
I messed up a few times, for sure. Smudged some lines, made things too thick or too thin. But that’s okay! It’s all part of the process. And honestly, it kind of added to the charm of it. Made it look more, I don’t know, authentic? Like it was something I actually made, instead of just a perfect copy.
After a while, I stepped back and looked at what I had done. It wasn’t an exact replica of Picasso’s painting, not by a long shot. But it definitely had the same vibe, you know? That same kind of quirky, abstract energy. I was pretty happy with it, to be honest.
This whole thing just reminded me that it’s okay to try new things, even if you’re not an expert. It’s fun to just mess around and see what happens. You might surprise yourself! And even if it doesn’t turn out perfect, who cares? It’s all about the process, right? The journey, not the destination, as they always say. Also, it’s a good way to kill some time when you are bored.
