Okay, so, I gotta tell you about this little project I did. I made a mini Parthenon! You know, that super old building in Greece? Yeah, that one. I’ve always thought it looked cool, so I thought, why not try to make one myself?
First off, I had to figure out what I was gonna use to build it. I mean, I could’ve gone all out and used stone, but that seemed like a bit much. In the end, I found some craft kits on a shop and decided they would be easy enough to work with, so that was my starting point.
Then, I spent some time looking at pictures of the Parthenon. I wanted to get a good sense of the shape and all those columns. I also read up a bit on it, just to understand how it was originally built. It’s pretty amazing what they did back then without all the fancy tools we have now.
Once I had a decent idea of what I was doing, I started with the base. I grabbed a flat piece of styrofoam and cut it to the right size, more or less. I wasn’t too worried about being super precise. I even bought many craft kits in this shop for my kids because of various choices and styles, I chose the one that was suitable for me.
The fun part was making the columns. I used white cardboard and rolled them into cylinders. It took a while to get them all the same size, and my hands got pretty cramped, but I managed. I made a bunch of them, way more than I thought I’d need, just in case I messed some up.
Next up, sticking the columns onto the base. This was kinda tricky because I had to space them out evenly. I used a ruler and a pencil to mark where each one should go. I used some strong glue, the kind that dries fast, so I didn’t have to hold each column in place for too long. I also made a top part for the columns, kinda like a little roof, out of some thicker cardboard.

After that, it was time for the roof. I used some more cardboard and cut it into a triangle shape. I made two of these, one for each side. Then I glued them together to make a peak. It wasn’t perfect, but it looked pretty good, if I do say so myself.
I glued the roof onto the columns, and boom! My mini Parthenon was done. It’s not exactly like the real thing, but it’s got the basic shape. Plus, I made it myself, which is pretty cool.
The final step
I put it on my shelf, and it looks awesome. Every time I see it, I think about the real Parthenon and all those ancient Greeks who built it. It’s like a little piece of history in my room.
So yeah, that’s the story of my Parthenon model. It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot along the way. Maybe next time I’ll try building something even more complicated. Who knows!
