Fables of la fontaine simple guide for beginners read these amazing stories and learn something new

Okay, so today I wanna talk about something I got into recently – “Fables of La Fontaine”. I stumbled upon this while browsing through stuff online, and it seemed pretty interesting. I mean, who doesn’t like a good fable, right?

First, I tried to figure out what this thing even was. Turns out, it’s a collection of fables written by some French dude named Jean de la Fontaine, like, way back in the 17th century. I was like, “Cool, old stuff,” and started looking for a way to read them. I found out that they were first published in 1668. It said “Fables Choisies, mises en Vers” on the cover, which, I guess, means “Selected Fables, put into Verse.”

I searched around, and I found that there are English versions available. It was kind of hard to pick one. I saw one called “The Original Fables of La Fontaine” from 1913, translated by some guy named Frederick Colin Tilney. Then there was another one, just called “Fables” from 1881.

I also went down a rabbit hole reading about how these fables are a big deal in France. Apparently, everyone there learns them in school. Makes sense, I guess. They’re like classics.

So, I found this version online, from Project Gutenberg, it was also by this Tilney guy. I started reading, and I gotta say, it wasn’t easy. The language was a bit tough, being all old-timey and stuff.

But I pushed through. I read a few of them. They’re short, which is good. And they have these little morals at the end, which is kind of neat. They’re like mini-lessons wrapped up in stories about animals and people.

Trying to Find a Hard Copy

After a while, I thought, “Why not get a physical copy?” I like having actual books. So, I started looking around, it seems like this thing is really popular.

Eventually, I saw some offers online, on some big online shop, and ordered one. Now I’m just waiting for it to arrive.

I’m not sure what I’ll do with these fables. Maybe I’ll just read them for fun. Maybe I’ll try to learn something from them. Who knows? But I thought it was a cool little adventure, diving into these old stories.

In the end, it was an interesting experience. From finding out about these fables to actually reading some of them and ordering a book, it was a fun little journey. I guess it shows you can find cool stuff just by poking around online. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll become a bit wiser from reading these things. Or maybe I’ll just have some fun stories to tell. Either way, it was worth it.
