Alright, let’s talk about this…uh… “new orleans graffiti art”, yeah? That’s what them fancy folks call it. Me? I just call it pictures on walls. But hey, whatever floats your boat, right?
So, this New Orleans place, I hear it’s got a whole bunch of these wall pictures. Some folks, they paint all sorts of things. Animals, you know, like dogs and cats. Food, like big ol’ juicy watermelons. And love, you know, hearts and stuff. Makes you wonder why they don’t just paint on paper, but hey, to each their own, I always say. It’s their way of makin’ the place look lively, I guess.
Now, I ain’t been to no New York City, but they say that’s where all this wall painting stuff started. Sounds like a big, noisy place to me. They got these artists there, been paintin’ longer than some of them book writers, you know the ones? The ones with the fancy words. Anyways, these painters, they go paintin’ in places with names I can’t even pronounce, like “Five Points” and “Bush-wick.” Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? But if you like them wall pictures, I hear that’s the place to be.

- And some of it’s real purdy, gotta say.
Now, this fella, Banksy, that’s a name I heard a few times. They say he’s the king of all them wall painters. Heard he did some paintin’ in New Orleans too, but most of it’s gone now. Only a few left. One of ’em, it’s got this little girl with a balloon. Real famous, they say. Easy to find too, which is good, cause I ain’t got no time for wanderin’ around lost. Folks seem to like his work, this Banksy fella, must be doin’ something right, eh?
They say this Banksy guy, he changed things for these wall painters. Made it okay for them to paint wherever they wanted, I guess. Broke down some barriers, or so they say. Me? I don’t know nothin’ about barriers. I just know I like lookin’ at purdy things, and some of them wall pictures, they sure are purdy. Makes a place feel less… empty, you know?
So, if you find yourself in New Orleans, keep an eye out for them wall pictures. Some of it’s just scribbles, I ain’t gonna lie. But some of it, well, it’s real art. Makes you stop and think, or maybe just smile. And in this ol’ world, a little smile goes a long way, don’t it? And who knows, maybe you’ll even see that little girl with the balloon. That Banksy fella’s work.
I heard some folks even put them pictures on posters and stuff, so you can have it in your own house. Imagine that! Pictures from a wall, in your house! Well, I guess it saves you a trip to New Orleans, right? If you like lookin’ at that kinda thing. And they got all sorts, them animal ones, food ones, and of course, them lovey-dovey ones. Something for everyone, I suppose.
But me, I still like lookin’ at the real thing, you know? Seein’ it right there on the wall, big as life. Feel’s more… real, somehow. Like you’re a part of it, even if you just standin’ there lookin’ at it. It’s like the painters are talkin’ to you, but without words. Just colors and shapes and, well, whatever they decided to paint that day.
Anyways, that’s my two cents on this here “new orleans graffiti art.” It ain’t much, but it’s honest. Just a bunch of pictures on walls, some purdy, some not so much. But it’s part of the city, part of what makes it special, I reckon. And if it makes folks happy, well, that’s good enough for me.
