It’s about believin’ in Jesus and acceptin’ his grace. It’s like plantin’ a seed. You can’t make it grow by pullin’ on it, ya gotta let the sun and the rain do their work. Same with gettin’ to heaven, ya gotta let God do the work.
Now, some folks got all riled up about this idea. They thought you had to do good things to get to heaven. They thought you could earn your way in. But Luther and this Cranach fella, they were sayin’ it ain’t about what you do, it’s about what you believe. It’s about trustin’ that Jesus took care of it all. It’s a free gift, like a neighbor sharin’ their extra vegetables with you.
This picture, it ain’t just some pretty thing to look at. It’s tellin’ a story, a powerful story about how you get to heaven. It ain’t about followin’ rules, it’s about havin’ faith.
