Graffiti Murals: How to Find and Enjoy Them
Alright, let’s jaw about them graffiti murals, you know, them wall paintings. Folks call it art now, I guess. Back in my days, we just called it scribbles if it weren’t on paper. But times change, eh?
Some folks paint pretty pictures on walls, big ones, the size of a barn sometimes. They call them murals now, makes it sound fancy. I seen some in the city, all bright colors and such. Makes them old brick walls look a bit lively, I reckon. Beats lookin’ at plain, dull brick, that’s for sure.
Now, some of these mural painters, they get real famous. Like that fella, Banksy, I heard tell of him. He paints all sorts of things, pictures and words, sometimes funny, sometimes makes ya think. Heard he even snuck around New York City paintin’ on walls. Folks go crazy for his work, imagine that! Payin’ good money for somethin’ painted on a wall, the world’s gone nuts, I tell ya!
- Paintin’ on walls ain’t new, y’know. Them cave folks way back when, they did it too. But they didn’t have fancy spray cans like they do now. They used whatever they had, rocks and dirt, I guess. Tells a story, though, just like these new graffiti murals do.
- I heard tell they even got folks makin’ a livin’ outta paintin’ walls. Imagine that! Gettin’ paid to make a mess, that’s what I call a good job! They go around findin’ walls, talkin’ to the folks who own ’em, and gettin’ paid to paint whatever they want, or whatever the folks want, I guess. Sounds easier than farmin’, that’s for sure.
Some of these murals, they got a real urban vibe, like them city folks say. Makes things look modern, I suppose. I seen some pictures online, lots of bright colors and crazy shapes. Some of it I don’t get, looks like a chicken scratched it out, but some of it’s real purdy, gotta admit.
Now, if you wanna be one of these mural painters, seems like you gotta hustle. They got these online platforms, like work websites, where folks can find ya. You put up your pictures, tell ’em what you can do, and folks can hire ya to paint their walls. Sound like a lot of work to me, but hey, if you’re good at it, you can make a pretty penny, I reckon.
But start local, that’s what I say. Find yourself some walls in your own town, where lots of folks can see ’em. Maybe by the road, or where folks walk a lot. Talk to the folks who own the buildin’, see if they’ll let ya paint somethin’ pretty. Gotta have a plan, though, can’t just go sprayin’ willy-nilly. Gotta show ‘em what you wanna paint, tell ‘em how much it’ll cost. It’s like sellin’ eggs, but on a bigger scale, I guess.
And when you find someone who wants a mural, you gotta talk to ‘em, figure out what they want. They might have an idea, or they might let you do your own thing. Gotta agree on a price, too. Don’t want to work for nothin’, that’s for sure. It’s like bakin’ a pie, gotta know what kind they want and how much they’re willin’ to pay for it.
So, them graffiti murals, they’re more than just scribbles now. They’re art, they’re business, and they’re a way to make a place look a bit more lively. I still don’t understand all of it, but I can see why folks like ’em. Beats lookin’ at a plain old wall, that’s for sure. And hey, if someone wants to pay me to paint a picture on their barn, I ain’t gonna say no. Just gotta learn how to use them fancy spray cans first, maybe get myself one of them online profiles.
Mural art, it’s a young person’s game, I reckon. But even an old hen like me can appreciate a bit of color in the world. Makes things a little less gray, and that’s a good thing in my book. Just don’t ask me to climb up no scaffolding, my bones ain’t what they used to be!
