Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this fates art thing. It’s like them old stories, you know? The kind my grandma used to tell. ‘Bout how life goes, like spinnin’ yarn. Some folks, they say there’s these three old gals, like the Moirai, you know, that decide everything.
One, she’s called Clotho, they say she spins the yarn. Like when you’re born, that’s her startin’ the thread. Then there’s Lachesis. She’s the one, they say, measures it all out. How long you gonna live, what kinda trouble you gonna get into. Sounds like my neighbor, always knowin’ everyone’s business, that Lachesis.
And then, there’s the last one. Atropos. She’s the one with the scissors, I reckon. Snip, snip, and that’s it. You’re done. Just like that flower that wilted last week. One day it’s pretty, next day it’s gone. That’s life, I guess, just like Atropos cut it with no warning.
Now, I seen a lot of things in my time, but this fates art, it’s all over the place. Them pictures and stories. These Fate anime, people are crazy about them. Different studios like ufotable, Studio Deen, Troyca and A-1 Pictures made different parts. Like, ufotable, they did Fate/Zero. People say it’s the best. They show these three, Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos, like they’re somethin’ special. Like they got some kinda magic, decidin’ who gets what.
And you know what? Maybe they do. Who am I to say? I just know life’s got a funny way of workin’ out. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad. Like plantin’ seeds. You never know what’s gonna sprout, these fate things. This fate art makes you think, you know?

- Lachesis, she’s the measurer, like the future.
- Atropos, she’s the cutter, like the past.
I seen pictures, them Renaissance ones, all fancy and such. They got these women lookin’ all powerful. Like they know somethin’ we don’t. It’s interestin’, I suppose, all them colors and shapes. But I think, do those fancy artists really understand about fate? It is not easy, you know?
Then there’s that Pop Art stuff. All bright and loud. Like them soup cans and movie stars. They even put the Fates in that kinda art. Makes you think, don’t it? That maybe fate‘s just another thing, like buyin’ groceries or watchin’ the picture show. It’s all mixed up, like a big old stew. But I think it is too simple for fate. It is not like buying things. It is much more serious.
And this other stuff, Abstract art, they call it. Just a bunch of lines and squiggles. They say it’s supposed to make you feel somethin’. Like fate, I guess. All messy and hard to figure out. Maybe that’s the closest they get, them artists. ‘Cause fate ain’t always pretty, that’s for sure. This kind of art is like your life, all the mess and all the emotions.
I remember when my old man, bless his soul, used to say, “Life’s a gamble.” You just gotta play the hand you’re dealt. Maybe that’s what this fates art is all about. Just showin’ you the hand. What you do with it, well, that’s up to you. Like those three women, Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos, they give you the thread, but you are the one to make the clothes.
You got your good days, you got your bad days. You got your sunshine, you got your rain. Just gotta keep on keepin’ on, I reckon. That’s what my mama always said. “Keep your chin up,” she’d say. “Even when things get tough.” And they do get tough, sometimes tougher than a two-dollar steak. I think this is free will, you can decide how to live.
So, this fates art, it’s got folks thinkin’, that’s for sure. Thinkin’ about life, about death, about what it all means. Me? I just think it’s like the weather. You can’t control it. You just gotta dress for it. It is just like the art, you do not know what it is, but you know it is there.
And maybe that’s enough. Maybe just knowin’ that somethin’s out there, somethin’ bigger than us, maybe that’s all we need. Like them three old gals, Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos. They’re just doin’ their job, I suppose. Just like the rest of us, spinnin’ and measurin’ and snippin’. And that’s the way it goes, I reckon. That’s just fate, I think.
