Most Expensive China in the World: A Look at the Rarest China Sets and Their Value!
You see, this here old lady gonna tell you ’bout the most expensive china. Not the country, mind you, but them fancy plates and bowls folks like to collect. Cost more than my whole house, I reckon!
What Makes China So Dang Expensive?
Well, some of it’s ’cause it’s old. Real old. Like, older than dirt old. They call it “antique”. Back in the day, some emperor fella, way back when, probably ate off this stuff. Imagine that! And some of it, it’s just rare. Ain’t many pieces left, you see. Like findin’ a four-leaf clover in a whole field of green.
This rich lady, Alice somebody, she sold one of them old bowls. Cost a whole lot of money. Millions, I heard. Who needs a bowl that costs that much? I don’t get it.
- Old as the hills: Some of this china been around since them olden days. When emperors and such ruled the land. You won’t find this stuff at no yard sale.
- Rare as a hen’s tooth: They didn’t make a whole bunch of these fancy plates back then. So what’s left is worth a pretty penny. Harder to find than a needle in a haystack, I tell ya.
- Pretty as a picture: Some of them got real fancy paintin’s on ’em. Flowers and birds and all sorts of things. Takes a steady hand to do that kinda work, I imagine.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I hear folks talkin’. They say there’s these special brands, like fancy names for dishes. Like car brands, but for plates and cups. And these brands, they mean somethin’. Means it’s the real deal, I suppose. Means it’s worth more than a bucket of warm spit, as they say.
Some of Them Fancy Brands
I done heard tell of a few of these fancy china brands. Don’t ask me to spell ’em, though. My old eyes ain’t what they used to be.
- One’s called…uh…something like “Song.” Like a bird song, maybe? They say that one’s real old and worth a fortune.
- There is another one. Sounds French, maybe? I don’t know. But I hear it’s fancy too.
- And there is another one. Some kind of pottery. I heard people said it is from imperial time.
Now, you gotta be careful, though. Lots of folks tryin’ to sell fake stuff. Sayin’ it’s old when it ain’t. Tryin’ to trick ya. Like sellin’ a three-legged horse and sayin’ it runs fast. You gotta know what you’re lookin’ for, or you’ll get taken for a ride.
How to Tell if it is the Real Deal?
Well, like I said, I ain’t no expert. But I hear things. They say you gotta look for certain marks on the bottom of the plates. Like a secret code, almost. And you gotta feel the weight of it. The real expensive china, it feels different. Heavier, maybe. Smoother, I don’t know.
There is some ways. Maybe it is a good way.
- Look at the bottom: They say there’s marks and such. Like a signature, almost. I don’t know what they mean, but the fancy folks do.
- Feel the weight: The real good stuff, it’s supposed to feel…different. Heavier, I guess. Don’t ask me, I just use regular plates.
- Ask somebody who knows: If you’re really thinkin’ ’bout buyin’ some of this expensive stuff, best talk to someone who knows more than I do. Which is probably just about everybody.
If you got that kind of money, I guess you can buy whatever you want. Me? I’m happy with my regular plates. They hold my food just fine. Don’t need no expensive china to have a good meal. But I guess some folks like to have fancy things. Makes ’em feel good, I suppose. To each their own, as they say.
It is a good idea to know what you are looking for. People say that expensive china always has good quality. The color is good, the pattern is good, and it feels good. If you know what is good, then you will not waste money.
Why folks buy it?
I don’t know. I really don’t. But I think there is a lot of reasons. Some people just like to collect things. Like stamps, or coins, or them little spoons with pictures on ’em. And some folks, they think it’s a good investment. Like buyin’ land, or gold. They think it’ll be worth more later on. Like plantin’ seeds and waitin’ for ’em to grow into a big ol’ money tree.
And some people just like to show off. That is probably the main reason. Like to say, “Look at me, I got this expensive china.” Like a peacock showin’ off its feathers. Not my style, but some folks are like that. I don’t like to show off. I just want to eat my food.
I don’t know why the most expensive china is so expensive. Maybe it is really good, maybe it is not. But it is not for me. I am happy to live a simple life. I don’t need those fancy things.
There you have it. That is all I know about it. Remember, if you want to buy this kind of thing, make sure you do your research. And don’t spend money you don’t have. That is all.
