St. Olga of Kiev Prayer: What is it and how can you find it?

Today I tried something new, something spiritual. I decided to look into this “St. Olga of Kiev Prayer” thing. Honestly, I had no idea who she was at first, but the name sounded grand, so why not?

First, I searched a bit online to learn about St. Olga. Turns out, she was a big deal way back when. Apparently, she’s the one you call on if your name is Olga, or you’re looking for some guidance. Okay, cool. I don’t know any Olgas personally, but hey, you never know when you’ll need a bit of divine intervention, right?

Preparation

So, I lit a couple of candles. Gotta set the mood, you know? I mean, I wanted this to feel somewhat legit. Then I found a quiet spot in my apartment, away from all the noise. This was turning into a whole process.

The Prayer Itself

  • I found a version of the prayer online. It was pretty formal, all “thees” and “thous.” I’m not really about that life, so I kind of just…winged it.
  • I started by closing my eyes, trying to clear my head. Easier said than done, let me tell you. My brain always wants to jump to the next thing on my to-do list.
  • Then I just started talking. It felt weird at first, like I was talking to myself. But I spoke from the heart, asking for guidance and strength. Not for anything specific, just general life stuff.

Afterwards

After I finished, I sat there for a few minutes. I opened my eyes and just breathed. Did I feel different? Maybe a little. A bit calmer, maybe a little more focused. Or maybe it was just the candles and the quiet. Who knows?

All in all, it was a pretty interesting experience. I don’t know if I’ll do it every day or anything, but it was kind of nice to take a moment and connect with something bigger than myself. Even if it was just for a few minutes. I might even look into other prayers. Any recommendations? Let me know!
